Tiny Jane
"Jane" Oil on Panel 16 x 20 inches copyright 2020 Kelly Schumacher
Happy Tuesday Everyone! I wanted to share this portrait of a little girl that I painted earlier this year. I think her pink dress with flowers is perfect for her! One of my favorite colors is lavender which I painted on the background. As pretty as pink is, I thought a pink background would be too much for her, lavender is easier on the eyes. As I have been painting these days I find myself reflecting on my own childhood, and believe me I was not perfect at all. God bless my parents for putting up with me when I was being difficult! But our homes are places where forgiveness and grace are present, and thankfully my mom and dad modeled these qualities for me.
Being a parent is not easy. I have witnessed so many parents struggle with their children and have wonderful times too. Being a father or a mother is a very high calling of sacrificial love. My sister just had a baby, the first grandchild in our family! I have been incredibly amazed at how much she gives to this little guy. The continuous sacrifices that her and her husband make every day for their child and for each other.
When I paint a picture of a child, I try to see not just what the photograph captures, but what the parents see when they look at their child. This is one of the best gifts I can give to parents to support them in their vocations.
If you are interested in a portrait of your child, please message me here for rates (using the email below). I am more than willing to work within family budgets, its just paintings like this cost for materials and take several weeks to months to create. I am offering reduced rates for the first year of portrait painting, so please do not hesitate to ask about those. As always God bless you and keep you, and I cannot wait until we get to chat again!
💞Much love 💕
Kelly
