A Dapper Chap

I finished this portrait of this "dapper chap" in a garden in oil paint this past week. I had the opportunity over the past few weeks to do some extra childcare, and interact with children face to face. Children have different proportions in their face and eyes and coloring, which I could see more when play with them and talking to them. Painting an adult is a different process. One of the challenges of making children's portraits is getting the age correct, not making them look overly mature. The transitions of colors in their faces are also tricky for me to do, but I am definitely enjoying the challenge!
