You melt my heart

I love this painting of a little guy with his face covered in vanilla ice cream. His expression is very focused, showing that he is taking this first cone experience very seriously. I loved painting his furrowed eyebrows, and the blond hi lights in his hair. His baby fingers are wrapped tightly around the cone as the ice cream looks like it is soon to melt. This was the first time I tried to do a neutral tan colored background instead of a blue background. My instructor told me that a warm neutral would be better for bringing out the warmth of the skin tones. I really liked her suggestion.
